More than 20 hectares of jungle separate the hustle and bustle of daily life from your relaxing and centering stay at the Akal-Ki Holistic Spa and Retreat. Akal-Ki (in Mayan this means “freshwater lagoon of vital energy”) offers seven cabanas on 300 meters of lakefront overlooking a remote cove with some of the most beautiful, private, and calming vistas Laguna Bacalar offers.
Five handsome cabanas sit over the water and two on the shore at the lake’s edge. All cabanas are simple, spacious, and graciously decorated with comfortable beds (one queen and two singles), large bath and private, covered veranda overlooking the spectacular blue waters of Laguna Bacalar. Kayaks and bicycles are available to explore jungle trails. Guests can chose from a variety of relaxation, meditation, and spa services (including temascal) and the Holistic Center has a large, handsome covered palapa suitable for larger gatherings and group events.
Akal-Ki was designed and built with great care so as to not disturb the native plants or the lake and the Center asks its guests to carefully protect these special natural resources. At Akal-Ki, we strive for environmental sustainability. Bathrooms and toilets utilize ecologically safe systems to process wastes with no impact; all cleaning products used at Akal-Ki are 100% biodegradable and the Center’s trash is sorted and almost all is recycled. Each cabana is energy self-sufficient. Solar panels heat water and generate electricity for the cabana; other panels support the common areas and the restaurant. Please, no pets.
Akal-Ki is a full-service hotel and our prices vary by cabana and by season. Double occupancy rooms cost $250 USD per night, meals not included.
