Palapa bar over the Laguna BacalarTranquility, comfort and rustic elegance await you at Kúuch Ka’anil, just five miles north of the town of Bacalar and ten minutes off highway #307 at km 26.5 or alternative access at Km. 28 when raining. Eight spacious bungalows and two suites, each constructed of local hardwoods and stone, have a large private bathroom, palapa-covered porch with comfortable seating and lake view, a king size bed and hammock. No charges for telephone calls, using the land line, within Mexico.

 

Kayaks are available free of charge to all guests. We also have other boat tours (at different prices) as well as a preferential entrance fee for clients going to BioMaya. We can drive our guests to BioMaya and back either by boat (300 peso surcharge) or shuttle them to their highway entrance for free! Free transport from bus station or airport in Chetumal provided for our guests -- and to nearby archeological sites, when space is available.

During that time a Swiss chef prepares personalized meals for our guests and general public. Breakfast for guests is served from 7:30 to 11:00.  The bar (open from noon until 10 pm) is a palapa over the lake accessed by a circular dock surrounding a mangrove island rich with bromeliads. Both the bar and restaurant are open to the public.

 

Cabanas cost $2500 pesos per night per couple; suites are $3000 pesos per couple per night. Suites include satellite (Sky) television. All rates are for all-inclusive stays including three meals per day as well as beverages including high quality tequila, vodka, whiskey and rum. Additional guests cost 25% more per person per night, up to a maximum of four people per cabana (children 12 and under are free during the holiday season.) Room prices include a boat ride on the lake or a visit to Mahahual, the Belize Free Zone, or nearby archeological sites -- one adventure for each night you stay at Kuuch Ka'anil.

Guests are provided with biodegradable soaps and shampoos, grey water is filtered and purified organically, composting toilets reduce water use and recycle organic matter into fertilizer, and all Kúuch Ka’anil power comes from non-polluting solar and wind energy.

 

Please note: children under 16 are cordially invited to accompany their parents during the school vacation periods for Easter, December and summer vacation. During other times of the year, guests are limited to those over 16 years of age.
